Participate in Our Study
The National Carbon Monoxide Awareness Associations is teaming up with local firefighters to launch a carbon monoxide home study.
About the Study
This study will help identify how many homes in our community have carbon monoxide leaks.
Who benefits from the study?
Our community will be better positioned to take action against carbon monoxide poisoning if we gain a better understanding of how many homes experience carbon monoxide leaks. Members of our community, as well as local firefighters, will be able to better protect themselves from carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of this study.
What does the study entail?
There are 2 parts to this study:
-
Part 1: Dropoff: this is an assessment where carbon monoxide levels are measured with a portable detector. During this assessment, up to 3 temporary carbon monoxide detectors will be placed in your home for a period of 2 weeks. These detectors will record the carbon monoxide levels found in the home during this time.
-
Part 2: Pick-Up: after 2 weeks, we will return to your home to pick up the temporary carbon monoxide detectors.
How Do I Participate?
If you are interested in participating in this study, please contact Gary Ringer at gringer@joysouthfield.org or complete the form below.
Once you express interest in participating, we will contact you to determine if you are eligible to participate and to schedule a time for the drop-off appointment.
A representative from the study will come to your home for the drop-off appointment. This first appointment will take approximately one hour, as we take carbon monoxide measurements and place the temporary carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
Before we leave your home during the drop-off appointment, we will schedule a time for the pick-up appointment, which will take place 2 weeks later. The pick-up appointment will last about 15 minutes.
